IDM's Crease & Stiffness Tester model C0039 and Cutter model C0016 has been released by IDM Instruments and comes in a new design.

Measurement Testing

IDM Instruments is able to complete any measurement testing for you. With hundreds of products available, we are sure to be your number one measurement tester. We can also loan our machines to you for measurement testing. Machines are available for short and long term. You can then perform your own measurement testing I your time while having the reduced costs of renting instead of buying an entire testing machine.

We can perform measurement testing for carpet with machines such as our tetrapod abrasion tester or our static load tester for carpets. Measurement testing can also be performed for mattresses with machines such as our bedding impact tester, mattress compression tester, mattress rolator or our cornell type tester. If you would like to complete measurement testing for shoes, we can certainly accommodate you with our sole abrasion tester, shoe drop tester or a whole sole flex tester. We are also able to complete measurement testing for rubber with dry or wet din abrader, dry bath aging block or the torsion bending fatigue tester.

New Tetrapod Abrasion Tester Just Developed by IDM Instruments

We have just completed an update to our popular Tetrapod Abrasion Tester allowing our customers to test samples of textile floor coverings to the internationally recognised ISO/TR 6131 standard, as well as improving the safety of its operation. Tests are completed for materials with a thickness of up to 20mm.
The Tetrapod tester allows the user to test the mechanical action on surface texture of textile carpet. A cylindrical drum, lined with specimens and containing the tetrapod, is rotated the required number of times so that the tetrapod ‘walks’ over the specimens.

The Tetrapod Abrasion Tester features a five digit counter, safety enclosure, a 1000g tetrapod and drums spinning at fifty revolutions per minute. The machine can be manufactured for mains power of 220V or 110V depending on the country that it is meant to be used in. It also comes with an optional cutting template that allows the user to quickly cut the sample to be tested, saving time in measuring and marking before proceeding to the cutting stage of the sample.

The abrasion tester is easy to use with a one button operation and constructed for low maintenance use by the user, requiring only periodic greasing of drive shafts.

PT8420 - Industrial Cable-extension Transducers

The PT8420 is part of our industrial line of cable-extension transducers. This series has a measurement range of up to 60 inches.

The PT8420 with its 4-20 mA feedback signal, is ideal for monitoring the stroke of a hydraulic cylinder and other applications requiring position data acquisition in harsh environments.

The PT8420 provides a feedback signal that is proportional to the linear movement of a traveling stainless-steel extension cable . Simply mount the body of the transducer to a fixed surface and attach the extension cable to the moving object.

Crease Bend Tester Just Released

The B0012 Crease Bend Tester is used to monitor scoring equipment to ensure box performance, by measuring the bending resistance of creased board at the time of folding at the crease. It measures the maximum force required to bend the sample board.

Corrugated converters use the Crease Bend Tester to aid in making adjustments to improve the quality; thus ensuring the end user will have boxes that run effectively on their production line.

IT9101 - Inclinometer

The IT9101 is a rugged and simple device which provides a voltage divider feedback signal for incline position. The heart of the IT9101 is a magnetically-damped pendulum coupled to a conductive plastic precision potentiometer.

A highly linear relationship between inclination and the output signal is maintained over the full range of the IT9101. The inclinometer has an operating temperature of -34 to 90 degrees Celsius.

IDM Instruments introduces tissue box peel tester

IDM Instruments has just released a tissue box peel tester.

The peel tester was developed to simulate the peeling of the top perforated cover of tissue boxes. The peel tester simulates the angle that the box is held before peeling. The force is measured to compare and adjust production machines. The angle of the tissue box can also be adjusted at any time to simulate different scenarios.

The tissue box is operated using a pneumatic clamp that peels the perforated section of the tissue box.

F0023 - Digital Foam Porosity Tester

The Digital Foam Porosity Tester is an instrument for monitoring the porosity of flexible cellular polyurethane. The machine determines the ease with which air passes through a cellular structure. Airflow values may be used as an indirect measurement of certain cell structure characteristics.

A flexible cellular test piece, 50mm x 50mm x 25mm, is placed in a cavity over a vacuum chamber and a specified constant differential air pressure is created. The rate of airflow required to maintain this pressure, is the airflow value.

F0025 - Universal Testing Machine

The Universal Testing Machine has been specially designed and manufactured to perform tests in both compression and tensile, without having to change the attachments.

The universal measurement of firmness and hardness is based on a physical property called the indentation force deflection (IFD). It is calculated by determining the force required to deflect a test piece a percentage of its original thickness using a circular indentor, which applies a force, while also recording the degree of indentation.

B0007 - Box Opening Compression Tester

The B0007 - Box Opening Tester has been designed to measure the opening force of flat stacked carton boxes. The Box Opening Pressure Tester is used for the Development and Quality Control of cartons during production, therefore speeding up production set-up time.

After the unit is switched on for a test it will go to a predetermined depth and return to a stand-by position. The maximum pressure needed to open the box is locked in the digital display for evaluation.

C0044 - Cornell Type Tester

The C0044- Cornell Type Tester has been designed and manufactured for testing and evaluating of Innerspring, Boxspring and Foam mattresses.

There are several different methods used for the evaluation of innersprings and boxsprings, testing for measurements regarding firmness, firmness retention, durability, effect of impact etc. The Cornell Type Tester is used to test the long term capacity of bedding to resist cyclic loading. The machine consists of a double hemispherical ram head on a manually adjustable shaft. A load cell is located on the ram head to measure the force being applied to the mattress.

B0008 - Bedding Impact Tester

The B0008 - Bedding Impact Tester has been designed and manufactured to perform various tests and evaluations of Innerspring, Boxspring and Foam mattresses, as well as Chairs, Cushions and other similar products.

The machine consists of a 79.5 ± 1kg platen, which drops down and impacts the test specimen from various heights as selected by the operator. This allows comparison of results obtained by impacts from different heights. The machine can be used to impact any locations on the specimen, including middle areas, corners and edges to compare performance of both inner and outer components. The machine operates by testing each product at the same position, once a location is set for comparison.

B0009 - Box Compression Tester – 50kN

The Box Compression Tester is a floor-mounted machine designed to evaluate packages and material under compressive loads. It can be used for Box Compression, Stack Testing and Multi-box Compression.

Unlike other machines, the Box Compression Tester uses a servo electric system to apply a precise linear motion and force. The maximum test area is 1000mm x 800mm x 1200mm with the machine weighing at just under 55Kg and having an overall height of 2312mm.

E0004 - Extensiometer for Fabric

Weighing at just under 15kg , this bench mounted Extensiometer is the perfect measuring tool for woven and knitted fabrics.

The methods of tests in this standard are applicable to woven, and to warp-knitted fabrics. They are particularly applicable to stretch fabrics such as are obtained by the use of elastomeric fibres or bulked yarns, or by a process such as slack mercerisation

A specimen of standard dimensions is stretched by applying a specified load. The extension is observed and the tension removed. The length of the unstretched specimen is observed after recovery.

The new M150 string pot has a range of 1.5 inches, fits into tiny spaces and is the perfect position sensing solution for a variety of applications such as robotics, biomedical, aerospace testing and automotive applications.

Size and Durability The M150 transducer's aluminium body measures just .74 x .74 x .38 inches and uses a .014-inch diameter nylon-coated stainless steel measuring cable. The M150 offers extremely durable construction and a high degree of reliability, with constant tension and fully retractable stainless steel measuring cable that easily attaches to the object under motion. Installation is quick and easy since cable alignment is not a requirement for efficient and effective use. The movement of the M150's internal spring-loaded spool turns the potentiometer which, when connected to a voltage source, produces a voltage directly proportional to the position of the measuring cable.

Engineering
This string pot has been engineered for reliability to provide quick, easy and hassle-free installation for customers. While other transducers require precise alignment, the M150 is easier to use and offers quick, accurate measurements.
